CARE Australia appoints Peter Walton as CEO
The Board of CARE Australia, one of Australia’s leading global humanitarian organisations, today announced the appointment of Mr Peter Walton as its new Chief Executive. Mr Walton succeeds Ms Sally Moyle and will commence in the role in late January 2020.
The Chair of CARE Australia, Mr Colin Galbraith, commented, “We are delighted to have selected someone of Peter’s standing and experience in the humanitarian and international development sectors. We know Peter will bring a wealth of knowledge in building innovative poverty-fighting programs, developing strategic partnerships and in leading our wonderful staff here in Australia and overseas.”
Mr Walton is currently Director International at Australian Red Cross, a position he has held since 2013. Previous roles include CEO at Infoxchange Australia, Director of Programs at Save the Children Australia, and senior roles at ChildFund Australia including within the Mekong region and as acting CEO. Mr Walton was awarded the Vietnam Government’s Medal for Peace and Friendship for services towards social development and poverty alleviation.
