TV and radio personality Chrissie Swan has nominated CARE Australia as her charity partner for Network Ten’s new reality TV show, I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!

On her reasons for supporting CARE, Chrissie has said, “In Australia we take for granted the fact that we can go to the fridge and get a snack, turn on the water and get a drink; in many countries, including ones that are really close to us, that’s not what happens.”

CARE Australia CEO, Dr Julia Newton-Howes, said Chrissie Swan has long been a proud advocate for CARE’s work with women and girls in some of the world’s poorest communities.

“Chrissie has been a much-loved member of the CARE family for many years, and we’re delighted to be by her side her during her time on I’m a Celebrity. On behalf of the CARE Australia team, and the many thousands of people we work with across 24 countries, I say a big thank you to Chrissie for her continuing support of our work.”

Dr Newton-Howes said she hoped Chrissie’s fans would also join her in getting involved in CARE Australia’s Walk In Her Shoes Challenge, to help reduce the burden of walking for water, food or healthcare faced by women and girls in poor communities overseas.

“I hope many of CARE and Chrissie’s supporters will vote to keep Chrissie on I’m A Celebrity, and also join Chrissie in getting involved in the Walk In Her Shoes Challenge. It’s a great way to, just like Chrissie, show you care about women and girls in some of the world’s poorest communities.”

CARE Australia is an international humanitarian aid organisation fighting poverty, with a special focus on working with women and girls to bring lasting change to their communities.

Chrissie has been a long-term supporter of CARE’s work, proudly serving as an Ambassador for CARE’s Walk In Her Shoes Challenge 16-22 March, the annual walking challenge where Australians walk for 25, 50 or 100 kilometres over one week in solidarity with women and girls in poor communities overseas. Most recently, Chrissie served as the face of CARE’s ‘Chrissie Kringle’ range of CAREgifts, that provide much-needed help to families living in poverty overseas.
